From Lorde to Tennyson, 16 to 20 y-o’s are now blooming in the music industry more than ever, mixing and bending genres to create the sound of a new generation. Here are some under 20s you might not know about yet:
Un Blonde

Canadian artist Jean-Sebastien Audet, better known as Un Blonde has been around for a while now, and has already released 3 full length albums and an extended play, with his latest release Good Will Come To You solidifying his image as an embodiment of musical crossroads and creative expansion.
Kweku Collins

This 19 year old Illinois rapper represents a new generation of hip-hop artists, embracing the genre mixes and fusions at the very roots of rap itself. Smooth flows and sweet instrumental with an intimate and somewhat innocent production made his record Nat Love one of the most appreciated of 2016.
Rich Chigga

Can you be taken seriously while being a living meme? Apparently, Rich Chigga is able to pull this off effortlessly. Sharing some non-serious-aesthetic traits with Lil’ Yachty and Pimp Flaco, Jakarta rapper Brian Imanuel went viral through his song “Dat $tick”, collaborated with Ghostface Killah and made his Facebook page one of the most clicked on links on social media. Don’t get us wrong though, his funniness doesn’t take anything away from his talent, as he proved over and over again whether it be through his songs or simply by dropping fire freestyles.
Let’s Eat Grandma

Rosa Walton and Jenny Hollingworth, formed british pop outfit Let’s Eat Grandma in 2013. Barely three years later, they released I, Gemini, one of the most impressive debuts we’ve heard in a long time. Exploring folky themes and putting their own twist on them, the duo are really on a path to creating their very own musical universe.
Billie Marten

As a very old and usually mature genre, folk isn’t the first musical style to attract the average teenager. Billie Marten, however isn’t like any teenager at all. This British 17 year old barely has to touch a few guitar strings to enchant any listener. With two EPs and a full length already released, she is, and has been for a while now, one of the most noteworthy teenagers in music.
The Goon Sax

In 2016, tons of great albums were released. Somewhere in there was the Goon Sax’s debut, Up To Anything. With an impressive ability to incorporate strange slight sadness to indie-pop without degrading its pleasantness, Louis Forster (son of the Go-Betweens’ Robert Forster) and the crew really are a compelling trio.
Kodak Black

He solemnly swears that he is up to no good. This young mischief maker has been away for some time (often due to legal issues), but his music keeps resonating everywhere. 19 year old Kodak Black is the next Chief Keef, and spearheads the “Rupture” generation, who often distance themselves from old school influences.
Pnkblnkt

A moniker has never been more literal than this one. Always covered in his pure and youthful pink blanket, this 18 year old producer already released COZY, his first album while collaborating with Kevin Abstract, and we’re pretty sure he’s about to give us so much more.
Sam Gellaitry

Often compared to rising stars Mura Masa or Kaytranada, British electronic musician Sam Gallaitry has been dropping albums every now and then, each time bending genres and somehow making the experimental sound fit for clubs and dancefloors.
Denzel Curry

Perhaps the most famous performer on this list, Denzel Curry has been collaborating with some of rap’s hottest names for a while. From Joey Bada$$ to Mick Jenkins, he’s appeared on many other hip-hop greats’ mixtapes and projects, all while releasing his own impressive material.
Petit Biscuit

A year ago, we were featuring a remix of Moi Je’s “Fais Rien” in our “Now Spinning” section. In barely a week, it became the most played track on our website. The track in question was brilliantly rearranged by Petit Biscuit, a French producer and head of his own label. The 17 year old released his long awaited eponymous album in 2016, and somehow amplified his online success through Soundcloud, joining the likes of Cashmere Cat as one of the biggest names of the platform.
Rainy Milo

Britain once again seems to produce some of the brightest young recording artists around. Rainy Milo is a charming Londoner exploring RnB and Soul with child-like curiosity. The sounds we heard when we discovered he can loosely be described by vocals over old school or jazz-revival hip hop instrumentals. Those led her to collabs with Chet Faker and Ariel Pink, and two wonderful full length albums.
Chester Watson

Embracing oddity, Chester Watson is bold and uniquely daring. Proof of that is the release of his first LP: Past Cloaks was a cassette-only release in the 21st century. But his head-first attitude doesn’t stop here, and got him praises from many greats, often being compared to MF DOOM and, understandably, Earl Sweatshirt.
Clairmont The Second

Apparently, the “wealth” in Commonwealth designates their music scene. Between Britain and Canada, the future of occidental music is insured thanks to artists like Toronto rapper Clairmont The Second. Hailed as “the next big thing in hip-hop” by Complex and others, his project Quest For Milk And Honey shows his maturity and wisdom, precious attributes quite rare for an 18 year old artist.
Harrison

Another producer from “the 6”, Harrison is part of the Eastern Canada crew of Ryan Hemsworth, Ryan Playground and perhaps other Ryans conquering North America and the Internet through their beats and electronic gems.
Jorja Smith

Following in the footsteps of NAO, Jorja Smith is set to conquer 21st century Soul. Having released a wonderful EP, Project 11, in 2016, she’s taking DIY productions to a whole other level.
Ravyn Lenae

Through her debut EP Moon Shoes, Ravyn Lenae injected a much-needed dose of lightness and toned-down happiness and chill into 2016. Synthy instrumentals complement her smooth, silky vocals to give Frank Ocean-worthy compositions and performances.
Demo Taped

Sporadically reminding Jai Paul, the young Demo Taped is your personal dealer of dark-bright synthy poppy RnB. With intriguing beats and melodic progressions, creative drum patterns and slightly reserved vocals, Demo Taped built an enjoyable sound of which he has the monopole.
Cloves

Talents can often get lost in or thrown out of the music world. Fortunately, when you stand between Aurora and Amy Winehouse, the odds of “making it” (whatever that means) are pretty good. Cloves has been many places, from Down Under to L.A., and we’re pretty sure she’s gonna go so much farther.
Tuval

20 under 20s usually showcase producers gravitating around “new” genres; RnB, hip-hop, electronic, etc. Tuval, however is more traditional in his musical orientation. Psychedelic folk is his turf, and he masters it in all lo-fi-ness, aiming to honour those who inspire him (like Tom Knights), and he never falls short of doing so.
