Week #15: Supertramp – Breakfast in America
Breakfast in America is Supertramp’s sixth album, and was recorded in 1978. It has since then become one of the band’s most significant works, and even one of music’s most notable concept albums.
Mainly written by Rodger Hodgson and Rick Davies, the album was originally set around the very relations and diverging ideals of the two members themselves, but then simply turned out to revolve around the concept of “fun”, and has often been associated with the satire of American culture.
Overall, the album was a huge success for the band, as it topped the charts of four countries, Canada, Australia, Austria and Norway, and sat at no. 3 in the UK, becoming the band’s biggest record.
