Week #20: Bob Dylan – Blonde on Blonde

As May 24 marks Dylan’s 74th birthday anniversary, we look into one of the man’s lesser known masterpieces.

Blonde on Blonde, Bob Dylan’s seventh studio album, released in May 1966. The recording process took place in Nashville, Tennessee, with the backing of Dylan’s live band, The Hawks. The title is believed to be based on the name of a German play, Brecht on Brecht, inspired by the works of Bertolt Brecht, who had a considerable influence on Bob Dylan’s first works.

Blonde on Blonde peaked at no. 9 in the U.S. and no. 3 in the U.K., earning Dylan a perfect 3/3 in terms of Rock album beating the tenth spot.
