Many artists have been announcing new albums, collaborations or even comebacks. Here are 10 things to look out for in 2015.

1) Lanks

The solo electronic project of Melbourne artist Will Cumming has caught our attention lately, and we’re glad it did. Ever since the release of “Green Light”, the beat-box virtuoso has been posting a few photos on his social media accounts hinting that new material is on the way. Although nothing is confirmed yet, we really hope to see more of Lanks in 2015.

2) N.W.A.

We really don’t want to get your hopes high: unfortunately, no N.W.A. reunion has been announced for 2015. However, everyone’s been talking about their biopic coming out this year. As much as we would love to see Ice Cube, Dre and friends together on stage again, it seems like we’ll have to wait at least another year. A year during which we’ll most definitely drop by the movie theater to enjoy Straight Outta Compton, the movie which depicts the band’s rise to the top of the hip hop pyramid. To take a peak at the biopic, here’s the trailer:

3) Coldplay

After the release of Ghost Stories in 2014, the band has announced another album, which may be their last. In fact, in December 2014, Chris Martin told the BBC that the band was working on their 7th studio album, A Head Full Of Dreams, comparing it to “the last Harry Potter book”. Martin has also stated that he has to look at it as their last work, otherwise he wouldn’t put everything he’s got in its writing process. In any case, we are grateful to have been graced by Coldplay’s amazing sound since the beginning of the millenium, from Parachutes to Ghost Stories

4) Björk

Three years after the release of Biophilia, Björk has announced a new album, co-produced by Arca, one of the many people behind Kanye West’s Yeezus. The singer confirmed she has been working on new music via twitter, justifying her missing the Biophilia Live London premier. For this new album, we’re expecting an apocalyptic dance music influence, a trademark of Arca’s previous works. Björk has already shown us what she can do when paired with electronic producers, and this is why we can’t wait to hear what she’s got for us.

5) Justice

Ever since the release of the underrated Audio, Video, Disco; the French duo have been very quiet. Fortunately, in an interview with FestivalRykten, Gaspard Augé announced the release of a new album on which Xavier de Rosnay and himself have been working during the summer of 2014. Although no official date has been set for the issue of this new record, it is expected to come out in 2015, and we are oh so excited. In case nostalgia hit you while reading this, here’s a little something to make you feel better:

6) BADBADNOTGOOD and Ghostface Killah

This is a collaboration you cannot miss. As we’ve already witnessed amazing co-productions involving BADBADNOTGOOD and big names in hip hop, this one should get any fan of the genre excited. In October 2014, the Toronto trio announced a new album featuring Ghostface Killah on every single track. The album, entitled Sour Soul and produced by Frank Dukes (best known for his work with 50 Cent) will be available as of February 17 2015. Here’s one of the pre-released track to give you an idea of how good this could be:

7) Nas

“Finished up my new album, single ’bout to be dropping, Last album on Def Jam and I got so many options” Those are Nas’ lyrics on Schoolboy Q’s “Studio”. This rap giant has got us all excited since 2012’s Life Is Good with hints like the hashtag #SeasonofNasir, and he is about to deliver.  With appearance by Usher and Madonna being rumored, The Season of Nasir is really an album to look out for in 2015. We know the Material Girl already tried to get a taste of it…

8) Youth Lagoon

We missed Trevor Powers so much and we are so glad to hear from him. During the month of July 2014, the master of psychedelia tweeted

soooo writing has been going extremely well…..this album is going to be intense. miss u all & c u next year xxo

Then, in October, Powers posted a picture on his Instagram account, mentioning the beginning of the recording process which will take place as of January 2015. Exciting news for the young musician’s fanbase which keeps on growing ever since the release of his second LP, Wondrous Bughouse in 2013.

9) Pond

A few bands are leading the growth of the Australian rock scene at the moment. Of course, when someone mention contemporary psychedelic music, we all think of Tame Impala. But their offshoot, Pond, have had their own impact on the music industry with their previous LPs, and they are far from being done. The band just announced the release of their next album, Man It Feels Like Space Again, and have posted one of the tracks on their Soundcloud, a song which is well worth your time. Listen to “Elvis’ Flaming Star” below:

10) Radiohead

We’ve all been waiting for this one. Radiohead are currently recording their ninth studio album and are expected to release it in 2015. As frontman Thom Yorke tweeted it, the band is recovering 15 years of discarded material for what will surely be an incredible record. The band seems to have gone back to electronic territory, working with modular synthesizers and all the elements that built the unique Radiohead sound over the years.
