Week #11: Radiohead – The Bends
This month marks the 20th anniversary of one of the greatest alternative records of all time.
On March 13 1995, Radiohead release their second studio album. This full-length LP followed their debut opus, Pablo Honey, which brought the band into the limelight, which had them touring during two years before Radiohead decided to work on new material to escape the never-ending routine of performing “Creep”.
The Bends was even more acclaimed by critics than Pablo Honey upon its release. However, it only peaked at number 88 on the Billboard 200 chart, Radiohead’s lowest ranking.
Fortunately, the album has aged in magnificent fashion, featuring tracks such as “Just”, “High and Dry” and “Fake Plastic Trees” which are now labeled as essentials.
