Week #17: The Doors – Strange Days

Considered a commercial failure by its producer, The Doors’ Strange Days certainly did not fail to captivate old and new fans, and definitely deserves the spotlight this week.

The second opus of the mythical psychedelic rock band led by Jim Morrison came out in the fall of 67. It contains songs that were written early after the band’s creation: “Moonlight Drive” being one of Jim Morrison’s first songs, as well as original new compositions.

Although a deception to the record company that believed Strange Days would make The Doors bigger than The Beatles, the album sold 9 million copies, and two of its songs made the top 25 on the US chart.
