6. Vangelis
Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou, or Vangelis, or the great master of synthesizer. This composer was an avant-gardist in the 80s when he participated in the movie Chariots of Fire. His score, with electronic tendencies and heavy in terms of synthesizer use, resulted in a great contrast with the orchestras traditionally used at the time. This led him to win the Academy Award for Best Original Score in 1982 for the previously mentioned British production. A year later, Vangelis composed the score for one of the greatest sci-fi movie of all time, Blade Runner. His filmography also includes the epic score of 1492: Conquest of Paradise.
