2. John Williams
Here’s the thing, we don’t usually like falling into the mainstream or be too predictable, but John Williams’ talent has to be acknowledged. Of course, Williams has composed the soundtrack for huge commercial successes such as Jaws, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones. But what’s remarkable about Williams’ scores is that they are almost as famous as the movie they are used in. Would the characters of Indiana Jones or Darth Vader be that powerful without their own associated theme? Would Hogwarts or the Jurassic Park spark as much magic to their viewers? Would the shark create such anticipation and fear? The answer is obvious. However, Williams’ filmography can’t be summarized by these great successes alone. An important aspect of his work is his very special relationship with Steven Spielberg, with whom he created more than 20 movies, including the touching and heroic war movies Schindler’s List and Saving Private Ryan.
Here is the main Schindler’s List theme, vibrant with emotion.
